Sweet 16 birthdays are a big deal for a lot of teenagers. It’s the transition of a child into early adulthood. Therefore, this is a big deal for many families in Toronto, and recently it has become a tradition to make that specific birthday a special one. Planning for this day can be very stressful with all the decoration, cake, budget, invitations, the dress and getting everything right for that special day.
These are a few tips to make anyone’s sweet 16 a special day and to make it enjoyable for everyone.
1) Budget
Before you begin the planning for your sweet 16 it’s important to make a budget. Besides, by creating a reasonable budget that you can follow is to prevent any extra expenses. Without a budget, this special event can get out of hand and can become very unpleasant.
2) Theme and Venue
Talk to the person who is having the birthday about some ideas and what they would enjoy for their theme and party venue in Toronto. To add, by brainstorming there will be many themes that the host will enjoy. For example, if your teen loves cars, you can plan out a go-kart birthday bash or if the host enjoys a formal theme they can rent out a venue that’s delightful to them.

If you prefer to make your own decorations, here is a DIY Masquerade centerpiece idea for your party.
You will need the following materials:
- Bowl
- Paper Towel holder
- Foil Number Balloon #16
- Masquerade masks
- Boas
Steps:
- Turn your bowl over because you will need to glue the paper towel holder right on top of it, make sure it’s on the center.
- Add some hot glue to the inner bars to keep the paper towel holder from moving while the rest of the glue dries. This will help to support the balloons that you’ll place right on top of the bowl.
- Use the cute foil balloon numbers (in this case #16).
- Unwrap the foil number and then insert the straw that comes with it, there’s like a little white piece of plastic where you are going to place the straw right under it. Then, you’ll need to push through until you get to the inside of the balloon. Once inside, all you have to do is blow into it
- Glue your numbers together with a low-temperature gun.
- Cut off the ribbon of the balloons in case came with it.
- Glue your mask right over the bottom of your paper towel holder to cover the metal part of the holder. Use your high-temperature gun to glue your mask.
- Add a boa or more. Make sure the colour matches with the masquerade mask, this way it will look nicer.
- Place the boa(s) behind the number
The amazing thing about this DIY Masquerade centerpiece is that you can use it for any event whether is a birthday, wedding or anniversary. You will only need to change the numbers, letters, or any object that relates the most to your special event.
3) Invitee List
The last step is to create a list of friends to invite and to be part of the sweet 16. This is a task that’s done by the host, as well as handing out the invitations. Just be cautious of the number of people attending and if it affects your budget and the cost of venues.
