Mother's Day Decoration Ideas

Easy Creative Mother’s Day Decoration Ideas

Is it really Mother’s day if we don’t brainstorm some decoration ideas? It’s the day we can make our mothers feel extra special. Of course, we appreciate moms every single day of the year, but Mother’s day is the day we get to show them a little extra love and pampering. Here are some Mother’s Day decorating ideas that will make her heart warm and fuzzy.

•Use your crafting skills!

Making decorations for Mother’s Day yourself is a fun way to show your love and effort. It’s an easy heartfelt idea to show your mom just how much you love her.

  • -Get some paper (scrap paper will work as well) and cut out some fun designs!
  • -Colour or draw on the paper for a more personalized design

•DIY Mother’s Day Card

Try this step-by-step DIY Mother’s Day Card to surprise your mom!

  • -Start with a piece of scrapbook paper, this can be any colour or pattern you like.
  • -Measure 2, 1 ½ inch strips and cut them out. The length of the paper can be anywhere from about 10 to 12 inches long.
  • -Score the paper every half inch
  • -Fold each strip of paper in accordion-type fashion, each section of the fold should be half an inch wide
  • -Glue the ends together, then grab the other two ends and glue those together to make a circle.
  • -Cut a circle out of cardstock, then Put down a glob of hot glue on the cardstock circle and then press your accordion into a flat circle and press it down into the hot glue.
  • -Glue a smaller circle onto the front to make sure it stays flat.
  • -Next, grab some scrap cardstock and cut out a rectangle. Fold it in half lengthwise, and then cut a triangle from the bottom. This should like a ribbon
  • -Trace that twice onto another colour of cardstock and cut it out.
  • -Print out a design that fits within a 2-inch circle and cut it out.
  • -Trace another circle bigger than the 2-inch circle on another colour of cardstock.

Now it is time to assemble our medallion!

  • -First, glue together the two circles. Then glue those onto the medallion.
  • -Glue the ribbons, use a bit more glue to attach them.
  • -Finally, glue one more circle at the back to cover up the different layers.

You can glue this medallion onto the front of a card or glue a pin back onto it instead and then pin it in front of the card.

This idea can be adaptable with any other holidays by only changing up the central message and colours like for Father’s Day.

•DIY your own banner!

The attention is 100% on mothers. To make sure of that, you can make your own banner with a few items you will find in your home.

  • -With paper or cardboard, cut out your mom’s name
  • -Connect with a stapler/ glue/ tape and hang on the wall for a special surprise!

•Plants

It’s a heartfelt decoration for Mother’s Day that will be a lasting memory. The beautiful thing about plants is that each plant symbolizes something. Money plant for wealth, lucky bamboo plant for longevity, and air plant for creativity. Look into the different plants as authentic decoration and plant to add to your home

•Balloons

Balloons are a simple form of decoration. The wonderful thing about balloons is you can get creative with them using these options:

  • -Fill the room with monotone balloons
  • -Balloon arch
  • -Balloon garland
  • Personalized Balloons

•Food/beverage topper

You know those little umbrellas you get with your drink/cocktail? Think of those! The topper can be anything you want. Think the simpler the better, and of course Mother’s Day related.

  • -All you need is paper, crafting supplies and a toothpick/ straw to attach the topper to
